The Paint Industry in Turkey

The Turkish paint industry has undergone significant development over the past decade, in line with the overall economic structure of the country. Turkey is not only the 5th largest paint producer in Europe, but it is also advancing steadily toward becoming an internationally influential sectoral power in its region, thanks to its increasing production capacity and technological infrastructure.

With an annual total production capacity of approximately 800,000 tons, the industry’s capacity utilization rate stands at around 65%. Of the total production, 55% consists of water-based paints and 45% of solvent-based paints. Additionally, about 35% of the raw materials used in the industry are domestically sourced.

Approximately 600 companies are actively operating in Turkey’s paint industry. Within the country’s evolving economic landscape, the sector plays a crucial role in manufacturing integrated products for various branches of the production industry—particularly in automotive, construction, general industrial coatings, and wood/furniture paints.
